“Who changed the truth of God into a lie…” In other words, they assaulted reality and turned it into a lie.
We are living in what the Scripture calls “perilous times.” The world seems overtaken with fear—fears over pestilences, political upheaval, rampant violence, financial collapse and most concerning, destruction of Christian values. We are beset daily with chaos and confusion, as we are swept ever nearer to the edge of total anarchy.
Today’s society is deluged in a storm of delusions and outright insanity. A tragic new identity is transforming the face of America from the sane to a caricature of a deranged lunatic. Darkness swaddles a nation who no longer trusts politicians, doctors, academics, the media and most any so-called expert—because all of them have lost credibility by espousing lies over truth. We live in a cacophony of deception and doublespeak, which breeds an environment of doubt and suspicion. So often are the untruths forthcoming that we have learned to treat every claim as dubious. Living in such a climate effects the overall mentality of society—a chilling effect of darkness.
Thinking that the surge of corruption, disarray, and darkness would assuage, yet to our dismay, we find that the world constantly finds new lows into which it willingly sinks! There seems to be no bottom to the degradation—as society gleefully seems to try to plummet to its depths. Indeed, the very fabric of decency and truth is being shredded in front of our very eyes.
Calling evil good, and good evil, has become the hallmark of the day. How did such twisted thinking become the norm rather than the exception? How can those who claim to be agents of equality call for the shaming and even harming of certain people based on the color of their skin? How can criminals be mourned as heroes while law-abiding citizens lose even their right to self-protection? How can so-called “peaceful protests” result in pillaging, death, and destruction, all the while being encouraged and lauded as “necessary” by the media?
What has gone wrong? How did we arrive here where everything has been tipped on its head? Is it an educational problem? Is it an environmental problem? Is it an economic problem? The answer to all those questions is a firm, no. The answer lies in understanding the satanic hatred for God’s creation order and plan for mankind. Satan’s wrath against God’s rulership and divine order is seen in his ferocious assault on reality. Why is this satan’s target? Reality is the focus of satan’s assault because the warping of reality causes delusion and mayhem and confusion in society. Satan comes not but to steal, kill and destroy. He is a liar and the father of lies. His entire evil energy is committed to an assault on reality, whereby he hopes to widen the path to destruction and enlarge hell for those who God seeks to save—the souls of men.
In a world drowning in chaos, confusion, corruption and lies, only God remains True and Faithful. Our only hope in a world gone mad is God. The only way we can make sense of things in a world where the walls of reality are collapsing under the weight of sin and unbelief is by seeking the Truth—which is found only in God’s Word (see John 17:17). As the disciples answered Jesus’ query “Will you also go away?” with “to Whom shall we go, Thou hast the Words of eternal life,” so must our answer be as others go away into delusion and perdition.
This world is headed to divine judgement. In the world’s rebellion against God, it has flipped morality on its head. This moral inversion invites the judgement of God Almighty. The world’s opposition to God, as a result of satan’s assault on reality, has turned their view of righteousness and truth upside down—a result of loss of God’s reality! The effect of a false reality is evidenced in man’s overturning of right and wrong, the acceptance of lies for truth, and the replacement of God’s creation order with a corrupt and evil design of their own.
Once again, Satan’s assault on reality is meant to reverse reality, to dismantle it and replace it with a false and evil reality. Do not underestimate the devil, if he can effectively blind a nation of people, preventing them from seeing the Light—he is capable of deceiving those who have no remedy for his assault on reality. The only remedy for delusion is Truth—God’s Truth!
Should we wonder then that Scripture tells us in Hebrews 10:25, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” God ordained a haven, the church, where we might understand reality from God’s eye view, and thus being aware and vigilant of satan’s devices. Assembling ourselves was to be a way of life, not a sporadic event. Notice also that we were to “exhort” one another—exhort, meaning to aid, encourage, comfort, and beseech one another—and even the more so as we see the day approaching! Hebrews 13:3 adds, “But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”
If there was ever a time, as some say, to keep your head screwed on right, that time is now! As we witness the delusions that are nearly en masse in our present-day society, we not only desire, but desperately need the mind of Christ! Never have we been more in need of relevant preaching which can cast a strong light into the deep darkness which strives to envelop us. Never has the threshold of the house of God been more appreciated than today!
Censorship of conservative views is rampant today and not only conservative viewpoints, but Biblical viewpoints, are in many cases cited as “hate speech.” Any view which counters or criticizes the present false reality is slapped with the heavy hand of censorship. The day is swiftly approaching where outside forces will seek to enforce censorship of our pulpits. Why? Because satan’s assault on reality must quell as much opposition to it as possible. For those who have taken delivery of the Word of God via preaching lightly, they endanger their own souls—for God chose by the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe. We ought to, therefore, be inspired to pray diligently that the Word of God may be preached without fear, as 2 Thess 3:1 says, “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:”
Falling victim to satan’s assault on reality is only possible if one does not know and live in God’s reality. “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32)
